Schleswig:
Visit the St. Peter's Cathedral, built from 11th - 15th century and the fishing village on "The Holm". In Gottorf Castle is the magnificient setting of the "Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landesmuseum" (Provencial Museums) where the development of the land, relating to the history of civilization, from the oldest stone age to the 19th century is impressively represented. .
Wikinger Museum Haithabu
Haithabu – the most important commercial town in the 9th
- 10th century, located at the Haddebyer Noor - is the former town of
Schleswig.
Boat trips on the Schlei passing small or bigger towns
like Ulsnis, Arnis, Kappeln and Maasholm are very exciting.
Special events:
In 2004 Schleswig celebrates
1200
years city of Schleswig. Every two years happens the Viking
Days.
Eckernförde:
The broad sand beach at the Eckernförder bay loads for bathing and sunning in. In cooler weather you can enjoy the bath joys in the sea water swimming pool with artificial waves (with large water chute).
Enjoy swimming and relaxing at the beach of Eckernförder Bucht.
You can learn surfing and sailing. There are also a lot of activities for families with children.
Every first Sunday there's Fischmarkt (fish market) at the habour.
With the MS "Seebad Borby" you undertake smaller or larger trips on the Eckernförde bay, into the Schlei or into the Kieler Förde.
Visit the museum Eckernförde or the gallery Nemo as well as the Baltic Sea information center directly at the port.

Fishing:
There are fishing rod possibilities in the Schlei and the Baltic
Sea as well as in the Holmer lake. High sea-fishing rod routes are offered
from Eckernförde, Maasholm and Kappeln.
